A Prayer for When You're Worried

Father, according to Your Word, I’ll be anxious for nothing. I pray with thanksgiving about everything, making my requests known to You. And Your peace, which passes all understanding, keeps my heart and mind through Jesus Christ.
I pray You will keep me in perfect peace for my mind is fixed on You—because I trust in You. I seek peace and pursue it. I pray Your peace will rule in my heart and my ways will please You so that You will make even my enemies to be at peace with me!
Thank You, Lord, that You leave Your peace with me. The peace You give me is not as the world gives. I’ll not let my heart be troubled or afraid, but I’ll trust in You with all my heart and lean not to my own understanding of things around me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Can the devil read my mind?

We can find no scripture that supports the idea that Satan can read our minds. To the contrary, 1 Corinthians 2:11 states that no man knows the things of man except the spirit of man which is in him.
What Satan can do is tempt you with wrong thoughts. But even then, you have the upper hand. You can resist those thoughts by speaking God’s Word out of your mouth. Romans 12:2 says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
Don’t underestimate the damage wrong thoughts can do. To fail to resist those wrong thoughts is dangerous. Left unresponded to, wrong thoughts will eventually enter into our hearts and then come out of our mouths (Proverbs 4:20-23). Jesus said it is not what goes into the mouth of a man that defiles the man; for out of the heart come evil thoughts such as murder, adultery, sexual vice, theft, false witnessing, slander, and irreverent speech. (See Matthew 15:11, 18-19.)
The bottom line is this: It’s not the devil, but you, who controls the environment you live in. You control it by the words that come from the abundance of your heart. Matthew 12:37 says that by our words we are justified and by our words we are condemned. Keeping God’s Word in your mouth and in your heart will keep you totally free from wrong thoughts and the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19).

Major on Mercy Kenneth Copeland

...I beseech thee, show me thy glory.
Exodus 33:18
What would you say is the single, most outstanding thing about God? What's His most important characteristic? Some people would say it's His power. Others, His holiness. But God Himself would give a different answer.
You can find that answer in Exodus 33. There Moses is asking God to show him His glory.
Now the word glory could literally be translated "heavy weight." It refers to the heaviest, biggest, grandest thing about someone. It's the sum total of their worth.
So what Moses was actually saying was, "Lord, I want to see the weightiest thing about You. I want to know Your grandest attributes." What did God say to him in response?
Chapter 34:6-7 tells us, "The Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin."
Just think about that! When Moses asked God to show him the most important thing about Himself, God showed him His mercy.
That means if you and I are to imitate God (Ephesians 5:1) we must major in mercy too. Mercy, goodness, forgiveness and compassion must mark our behavior above all else.
Major on mercy and others will see the glory of God in you.

Guard Your Heart

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
(Prov. 4:23)
Proverbs 4:21 says, "Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart." You are to keep God's Word in your heart.

Then Proverbs 4:23 tells you to keep or guard your heart. How do you do that? By keeping the Word in your heart! How are you going to keep God's Word in your heart?

By meditating on God's Word continually. In other words, think deeply about it until it becomes a part of your inner conscience. Don't just memorize scriptures and forget them.

You can memorize scriptures and say them by rote, and they won't mean a thing in the world to you. Those verses are just in your mind. But, no, think on them until they get down into your heart. Feed on them. It will take a little time to do that. But, eventually, the scriptures will register on your heart.

God's words are life unto you and health, or medicine, to all your flesh. I don't know about you, but I never see myself sick. I always see myself well. If a need arises - whether it's healing or anything else - the first thing that pops into my mind is what the Bible says about it.

Many people start to panic if something comes along, saying, "Oh, dear Lord, what are we going to do now? What in the world are we going to do now?" They are not guarding their hearts when they do that.

I tell people all the time, "Know your Bible. If you can't find it in the Bible, don't accept it. Don't let it get into your heart. I don't want your faith to be in what I or another preacher says. I want your faith to be in what God's Word says. The Word does not fail."

Confession
Father, I will attend to Your Word. I will put Your Word first. I will incline my ear unto Your sayings. I will not let those words depart from before my eyes. I will keep them in the midst of my heart. I will walk in health and healing. I will walk in the life of God.

The Father's Love

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him (John 14:21-23).

Two things are emphasized in today's text:

1. Jesus said, "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them...." Keep in mind what Jesus' commandments are. He said, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you..." (John 13:34).

There's no reason for you to worry about any other commandments. Walking in love sums up the whole business, because the Word of God says, "...love is the fulfilling of the law" (Rom. 13:10). (If you keep Jesus' commandments, you will have fulfilled the rest of the commandments.)

2. "...Shall be loved of my Father...." If you walk in love, you are walking in God's realm, because God is love. God's very nature, because He is love, compels Him to care for us, protect us, and shield us!

Confession: I have Jesus' commandments, and I keep them. I love others as God has loved me. I walk in love toward my brethren. I show my love for Jesus by keeping His love commandment. I am loved of the Father!

GAINING ACCESS TO PERSONAL ENCOUNTER

To gain access to personal encounter, you must seek personal contact with God by spending personal timewith Him.
Encounter with God will require time.
Change occurs with time. Ex.24:12-18; 34:28-35; Lk.9:28-43; II Cor.3:18; Deut.5:30,31; Jh.7:53; 8:1,2
Spending time with God is key to personal encounter with God.
There is a limit to which you can know a man from afar.
The closer you get the better you see and experience.
In the same vein, you must draw near to God for Him to draw bear to you. Jam.4:8

DO NOTHING AND GET NOTHING

The formula for getting nothing is simple and straight forward: just simply do nothing.
This is the line between success and failure.
Successful people keeps doing something while failures are watching, doing nothing whatsoever.
If what you do is nothing then don’t expect something.
Doing nothing disqualifies you from getting something.
Those who do nothing are not expected to have anything.
No man ever reaps from where he did not sow!
What you do determines what you get

Don't Neglect the Word

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
(Prov. 4:20-22)
When God said, "Attend to My words," He meant to put everything else out and put His Word in. Put His Word first, above everything else!

We need to ask ourselves the question, "What does God's Word say?" Many times we pray without asking ourselves, "What does God's Word say on the subject?" I think we endeavor to receive just through prayer what God's Word offers. But sometimes it doesn't come through prayer. In other words, if we are going to neglect the Word, prayer won't work.

So find out what God's Word has to say about your situation, and it will change your prayer life! It's amazing how many prayers you'll have to throw away when you find out what God's Word says about your situation.

People will turn in the most outlandish prayer requests you have ever heard in your life! That's the reason when people come to me and say, "Brother Hagin, I want you to pray for me," I always say, "What for?" Why do I say that? Because I've found out that many times the Bible already answers their need without their even praying about it.

They already have their answer. They just need to accept what the Bible says about it.

Confession
I attend to God's Word. I put it first place in my life. I find out what God's Word says about my situation and I believe that. I accept what the Bible says about my situation as truth!

Do You Really Need Anti-Anxiety Medication?

Nerve medicine.  That’s what some old-timers used to call anti-anxiety medication. It came in a little bottle and contained a lot of alcohol. They took it when they were upset (or so they said!). Kids rarely saw them actually drink it, but when things went wrong and tensions mounted, they often heard them say, “Let’s get the nerve medicine!”
The idea of nerve medicine may be funny today, but modern medicine has its own versions—Xanax, Lexapro, Ativan, Cymbalta, Valium or any number of other prescription anti-anxiety medications. If you are currently taking one of these medications or are considering taking one, then let this be a wake-up call to stir your faith.
Understand, this is not a message of condemnation, but one of encouragement. If you’re taking a prescription, continue to follow your doctor’s instructions until God tells you otherwise. But here’s what we want you to know: If you are a born-again believer, you have access to a nerve-calming, health-producing power that doesn’t come in a bottle. Proverbs 3:1-2, 8, (The Amplified Bible) promises “tranquility [inward and outward and continuing through old age till death]” when you obey the Lord’s commandments.
You can have peace in your mind and body. You don’t have to endure panic attacks, feelings of depression or sadness, mental and physical exhaustion or worrisome thoughts. You can have peace, regardless of what is going on around you. Consider these steps for implementing God’s peace in your life.
1.      Understand That Anxietyi Is Under the Curse
A peaceful mind is God’s will for every one of His children (Isaiah 53:4-5, 2 Timothy 1:7). Anxiety, depression and fear are part of the curse. And guess what? Jesus died to free you from the curse. Your freedom has already been purchased, but it’s up to you to receive it.
2.      Pray for God to Show You the Root of Your Anxiety
There can be many roots for your anxiety—physical, emotional or spiritual. It may be because of internal issues like unforgiveness or fear, or it may be the result of external issues like a divorce or job loss. Ask the Lord to reveal the root of your anxiety or direct you to someone who can help you identify that root cause (Matthew 21:22).
3.      Confess Your Healing From Anxiety
Once you know the root of your anxiety, make a list of scriptures that deal with your issue (Romans 10:17). Take these scriptures (repeating them multiple times each day) just like you would a prescription. Here are a few scriptures to review: Isaiah 40:29; Psalms 103:4-5, 55:22, 94:19, 139:23-24; Philippians 4:6-7.
4.      Seek Wise Counsel for Your Anxiety
As you pray for direction, ask God to show you if you need to seek outside help. If your faith is ready to stand against the symptoms of anxiety, then by all means do that. If however, the Holy Spirit leads you to seek out a pastor, counselor, doctor, nutritionist, mentor or good friend, then be obedient to His leading. Don’t let guilt about seeking outside help keep you from obeying the Holy Spirit (1 John 3:21-22).  God often uses others to get us from Point A to Point B.
5.      Put Action to Your Healing from Anxiety
“Faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless” (James 2:17). Begin acting on your healing, even if the symptoms are still present.
  • Obey whatever the Holy Spirit directs you to do—change jobs, sever relationships, move, etc. Obedience is key (Proverbs 3:5-6).

  • Begin taking care of your body through proper exercise, diet and supplements.

  • Get out of doors and experience God’s wondrous work in nature.

  • Volunteer at your church, a soup kitchen, a hotline or some other outreach. As you give your time  and energy to others, God will bless your efforts and adjust your focus (Luke 6:38).

  • Keep a prayer journal. In it note your prayer requests, answered prayers and the blessings God gives. As you become more aware of His blessings around you, you’ll become more grateful in your life.

Jesus paid the price for your complete deliverance—even deliverance from anxiety and anti-anxiety medication. As you put your faith in the Word of God, you’ll begin to enjoy the peaceful life, regardless of what circumstance may come.

How can God be good if there is so much bad in the world?

The answer to this question is simple, and it is found in 1 John 4:8: “God is love.” All aspects of God’s nature begin with that single characteristic—God is a God of love and compassion, and His intentions for mankind have always been for good (Genesis 1-2).
Why then, does the world continue to have death, wars and heartache? Because of mankind’s choice to reject God’s good plan (Genesis 3). Death and destruction are not God’s plan. They are simply the result of men and women using their God-given right of choice to choose death instead of life.
Even in this condition of destruction and heartache, God’s love is displayed. He has given us a way out—the option of choosing life by making Jesus our Lord and Savior (John 14:6)! The Word of God says if we believe with our heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess that Jesus as our Lord, we will be saved (Romans 10:9-10).
The choice God offers is not to follow a religion or a system of beliefs. Instead, it is to allow Him to totally change us on the inside and make us new creations in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17). There is only one true God. So our focus cannot ultimately be to find a god that fits our concept of what a god should be, but instead to see the one true God for who He is and accept the salvation He offers.
Unconditional love offers salvation as a free gift made possible through the sacrifice Jesus made in our behalf: “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Through the cross, God laid the punishment for our sin on Jesus so that we might become the righteousness of God through faith in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21). “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Good Success Kenneth Copeland

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt...have good success.
Joshua 1:8
Good success is a way of life that comes from being established in the Word of God. It comes from spending so much of your time and your thought life on the Word that it becomes what you and I could call "second nature." It comes from hearing and obeying the Word so consistently that it begins to guide your actions even when you're not consciously thinking about it.
When I started flying airplanes, I learned to train myself by getting the handbook for a certain airplane and reading it over and over again. In my mind's eye, I'd visualize everything that could occur in that airplane. I trained myself by meditating on what I needed to do.
And that's exactly what I started doing with the Word of God. I thought about it day and night. Before long, I started getting excited about what I was reading.
I'd sit at home and think about how I'd apply the Word in different situations. I'd see myself praying for the sick and having them recover. The Word became "second nature" to me.
Practice meditating on the Word that way. Let it become part of you. See yourself obeying it in every possible circumstance. It will guarantee you "good success."

His Glory

"And the Word became flesh. And pitched his tent among us, And we gazed upon his glory, - A glory...full of favour and truth" (John 1:14 Rotherham).

I love Rotherham's translation of John 1:14 - it is so beautiful.

We've tended to think of Christ's coming to the earth as a man only in terms of His self-denial in leaving glory, or else in terms of His suffering on this earth. But I believe it was a joy to Christ, who so loved man and so desired man's fellowship, to "pitch His tent" among us so that He might give to alienated man - who had never known his Creator - a true conception of His Heavenly Father.

It was good tidings of great joy which the angel proclaimed to the shepherds - and to all people everywhere. Man, separated from God for 4,000 years, could now gaze upon God's glory, could now see God, could now know God as He is, and could now be reunited with Him!

"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:10-11).

The Word has become flesh!

Confession: Like the multitude of the heavenly host, I, too, am praising God. Praise God for sending Praise God for sending a Savior! Praise God for Christ the Lord! Praise God for allowing us to gaze upon His glory!

THE WAY FORWARD

The way forward begins from within.
A man device his ways, the Lord directs his paths. Prov. 16:9.
It takes mental movement to experience outward movement.
What you see is the only thing you can show.
Lord, show to me that which I see not.
What God shows to a man is what makes him a show among people.
If you are not moving forward then nothing is moving within you.
If it is truly within you it will show around you.
Stop watching and waiting, if you don’t want to end wasting.
Your world will not give to you what you deserve;  it will give to you what you demand.

Don't Give Up!

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. ( Matt. 24:13)
I remember hearing about the man who brought in the first oil well to east Texas. (At one time, east Texas had the biggest oil field in the world.) He had made a million dollars and then lost it. This man decided to drill another well. But the people who were financing it tried to get him to shut it down, because he had used up all the money. His fortune was gone. He had borrowed everything he could from the bankers. He owed everyone! But he said, "I'm not going to quit." He kept telling his men to keep drilling. They were just about to quit because he hadn't paid them when they hit a gusher! They tapped right into the edge of a great lake of oil. This time, instead of losing all of his money, he was wise and ended up saving his millions. What if that man had quit? What if he had listened to what everyone was telling him? His financial advisors—men in the oil business—had been trying to get him to quit. They told him, "There's no oil there." But he just kept saying to his men, "Keep drilling. It's there. I know it's there." And he eventually tapped into it because he was persistent. Confession
I refuse to give up; I refuse to quit. I know that health and healing belong to me. I continue to meditate on and speak the promises of God. And I will see the manifestation in my body.

Scriptures for Living Successfully

Use these scriptures to help you live the life God has planned for you -- the life of victory!

  • 1 John 4:7-12 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him]. He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest (displayed) where we are concerned: in that God sent His Son, the only begotten or unique [Son], into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins. Beloved, if God loved us so [very much], we also ought to love one another. No man has at any time [yet] seen God. But if we love one another, God abides (lives and remains) in us and His love (that love which is essentially His) is brought to completion (to its full maturity, runs its full course, is perfected) in us!

  • 1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.

  • Deuteronomy 23:14 For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp to deliver you and to give up your enemies before you. Therefore shall your camp be holy, that He may see nothing indecent among you and turn away from you.

  • Deuteronomy 28:2-8 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you heed the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beasts, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading trough. Blessed shall you be when you come in and blessed shall you be when you go out. The Lord shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. The Lord shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouse and in all that you undertake. And He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you.

  • Ephesians 6:10-18 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God, And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. [Isa. 52:7.] Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one]. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God. Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God's consecrated people).

  • Exodus 33:14 And the Lord said, My Presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.

  • Galatians 1:3-4 Grace and spiritual blessing be to you and [soul] peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), Who gave (yielded) Himself up [to atone] for our sins [and to save and sanctify us], in order to rescue and deliver us from this present wicked age and world order, in accordance with the will and purpose and plan of our God and Father.

  • Galatians 3:13 Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified); [Deut. 21:23.]

  • Hebrews 4:16 Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

  • Isaiah 19:20 And it will be a sign and a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the Lord because of oppressors, and He will send them a savior, even a mighty one, and he will deliver them. [Judges 2:18; 3:9, 15.]

  • Isaiah 54:17 But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.

  • Isaiah 55:10-11 For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, [2 Cor. 9:10.] So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

  • Isaiah 9:6 For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace. [Isa. 25:1; 40:9-11]

  • Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. [Daniel 2:44; 1 Cor. 15:25-28; Heb. 1:8.]

  • James 1:12 Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor's] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.

  • James 4:7 So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.

  • John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

  • Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.

  • Luke 10:19 Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.

  • Philippians 4:6-7 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

  • Proverbs 16:3 Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.

  • Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the [consistently] righteous man [upright and in right standing with God] runs into it and is safe, high [above evil] and strong.

  • Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.

Scriptures for Employment

  • Philippians 4:19: And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

  • Proverbs 10:22: The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

  • 2 Corinthians 9:8: And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

  • Jeremiah 17:7-8: But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

He Came To Declare Him

"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him" (John 1:18).

How Jesus realized and appreciated the phase of His mission on earth: Declaring the true nature of His Father!

A noted Bible scholar once said, concerning the Incarnation, "We know now that God is like this that we have seen in Jesus. He is Christ-like. And if He is, He is a good God and trustworthy. If the heart that is back of the universe is like this gentle heart that broke upon the Cross, He can have my heart without qualifications and without reservations. I know nothing higher to say of God than that He should live like Christ....

"Strange, a man lived among us and when we think of God we think of Him in terms of this man or He is not good. We may transfer every single moral quality in Jesus to God without loss or degradation to our thought of God. On the contrary, by thinking of Him in terms of Jesus we heighten our views of God. All those who have tried to think of Him in other terms have lowered and impoverished our idea of Him."

Confession: Jesus has declared God the Father to me. I know what God is like - He's like Jesus! God is a good God - and I do trust Him.

Scriptural Evidence that God's Love = Success

Love is a very important key to your success!
First John 4:7-12 says, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him]. But if we love one another, God abides (lives and remains) in us and His love (that love which is essentially His) is brought to completion (to its full maturity, runs its full course, is perfected) in us!"
Thank You, Lord, for helping me to love others. I want Your love to be displayed in my life in a way that others want to know You and that same kind of love. I want Your love to be perfected in me!

Promises to Stand on for Success

God has given us peace! We don't have to be troubled or concerned by whatever is going on in our homes, relationships or on the job.
The Bible says in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]" I refuse to be fearful, Lord, because You have given me peace.
We have been given the power to overcome ANY challenge that may hinder our success. Luke 10:19 says, "I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you." God's Word is true, so we can stand on this promise!

6 Scriptures to Stand On in Difficult Times

Now more than ever before, believers must pay attention to God’s instructions. We must take hold of the Word of God and refuse to let go—especially in difficult times. We must be like the writer of Psalm 119 who said: “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again: I will obey your righteous regulations…The wicked have set their traps for me, but I will not turn from your commandments. Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight.” (verses 105-106, 110-111).
It’s not enough for us to just lie back and say, “Well, if it’s God’s will for me to have victory I guess He’ll just give it to me. If it’s His will for me to be healed, He’ll just heal me.”
No! It is His will. He did give it to you. By His stripes you were healed. Now you must take God’s Word as your heritage. You have to aggressively pursue it and get it in your heart and mouth. You have to fight off every unbelieving devil and every troublesome circumstance that comes to steal that Word and say, “Bless God, I have taken God’s promise as my heritage. It’s my future. It’s my life. I refuse to be troubled by the temporary troubles of this world. They’ll pass away but God’s Word will never pass away. God upholds all things by the Word of His power and that Word will come to pass in my life!”
Here are six scriptures to stand on to do just that—to build your faith in difficult times.
  1. Isaiah 41:10: Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
  2. Psalm 9:9-10: The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.
  3. Psalm 145:9: The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation.
  4. John 16:33: “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
  5. Philippians 4:6-7: Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
  6. Philippians 4:13: For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

How can I stop falling to the strong desires of my old life?

You are not alone in that battle. As children of God, none of us want to be guilty of fulfilling what Scripture calls “the lust of the flesh.” In our society, lust is most often thought of in connection with sexual immorality. But lust means “strong desire.” The lust of the flesh is simply the strong desire to follow after the ways of the world rather than God, in any area of our lives.
Take a quick inventory of your life since you became a Christian. Have you noticed a battle going on inside you? You want to do what’s right, but it seems difficult to overcome wrong desires.
That’s because you were created as a three-part being. You are a spirit, you have a soul (your mind, will and emotions), and you live in a body. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, your spirit is born again and receives new life. Your soul and body, however, remain the same until you do something to change them.
To change what happens with the impulses of the flesh and the response of the soul you need to know where the front lines of the battle are. In the struggle between the spirit and the flesh, your mind is the main battlefield because you will not do anything you have not thought about first. Proverbs 23:7 teaches us that what a man thinks about or meditates on is what he becomes. If Satan can keep your thoughts focused on ungodly things, he will have no trouble controlling you. Your actions will simply follow right in line with your thoughts.
In other words, you control who wins. What you give your attention to and think about the most will decide who wins. It’s as simple as that. “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think” (Romans 12:2).
Can you really change the way you think? Definitely. Simply read and spend time thinking about the written Word of God. Change doesn’t happen overnight. That’s why you need to make the quality decision to put the Word first place in your life on a daily basis.
There are other things you can do to undergird this new way of thinking. Spend time letting yourself hear the Word being ministered in power and stay away from negative music, movies, books and magazines. You will find that you have a different focus for your thoughts. Jesus, the Living Word, will become so real to you that your desires will change. You will be empowered to walk in newness of life and not fulfill the lust of the flesh!

Faith Confessions

Faith is powerful, and so are the words you speak. Use the force of faith, combined with the power of your words to speak to your situation and trust God to move on your behalf.
I do as Jesus did, and I speak to the mountains of _________ in my life. I command ___________ to be removed from my (life, body, relationship, job) and cast it into the sea and away from me! I believe I receive it removed by faith.
I have no doubt in my mind that I am free from ________. No weapons of fear, doubt or unbelief formed against me shall prosper. I call those things that are not as though they were and hope for what I do not have—waiting patiently for it to come to pass in my life.
Scripture References: Mark 11:23-25, Isaiah 54:17, Romans 4:17, 8:25
I hear, study, believe and confess God’s Word, and my faith continues to grow. I abide in God and His Word abides in me, so I ask what I need according to His Word, and I believe I receive it by faith. Jesus is Lord over my situation, and I do not fear or worry about what I’m going through because I released my faith and God’s will is being done in my life right now.
Jesus is the author and finisher of my faith, so I look to Him by believing and acting on His Word! I believe that my faith works because I believe God’s Word is true. It comes to pass and He is the rewarder of those who seek Him. I not only hear the Word, I act on it by faith. I do not doubt, but believe in my heart that I have what I speak by faith.
Scripture References: Romans 10:17, John 15:7, Mark 11:23-24, Matthew 6:10, Hebrews 12:2, 11:6, James 2:17
I’m not moved by what I see, feel or experience. I have the God kind of faith. God’s Word is in my heart and in my mouth. I have spoken my faith and I believe I receive ________. Though I haven’t yet seen the physical results, I know I have them and am unmoved by negative feelings.
Thank You, God, that I have a great High Priest in heaven and His Name is Jesus Christ, and He said I can have whatever I say. So, out of the abundance of my heart I speak the Word of God over my situation. His Word never fails!

Don't Just Sit There...Arise! Kenneth Copeland

Now four men who were lepers were at the entrance of the city's gate; and they said to one another, Why do we sit here until we die.... So they arose.
2 Kings 7:3-5, The Amplified Bible
No matter how bad the problem is you may be facing today, no matter how far under the circumstances you may be, in 24 hours you can be back on top!
"Oh, Brother Copeland, that would be impossible!"
That's what the Samaritans thought in 2 Kings 7. Their land was being ravaged by famine. Enemy troops had surrounded them and cut off all source of supply. Mothers were eating their own children just to survive.
But right in the middle of that, the Lord told the prophet Elisha that in 24 hours the whole situation would change. Flour and barley would sell for just a few pennies and there would be abundance for all.
What did God use to turn that situation around?
Four lepers! Four lepers who, instead of sitting around feeling sorry for themselves and waiting to die, decided to arise and take their chances in the enemy camp. When they got there, they found it abandoned. All the warriors had been frightened away by the angels of God, and they'd left enough food behind to feed all of Samaria!
Sometimes you and I are like the officials in that story. We get problem centered instead of Word-of-God centered. We let ourselves be so surrounded with the loud voice of the world that the vision of our victory is pushed out of sight.
When that happens, faith and power begin to subside and life caves in on us from every side.
If that's happened to you, stop crying about it. Stop looking at your problem and feeling sorry for yourself. That won't change anything!
Just like He did for Elisha, God's given you a word. He's promised you victory. He's promised to make you an overcomer.
So don't just sit there till you die. Don't accept defeat. Rise up in faith. Stand up on God's Word and fight for your life. Get mad at Satan. Cast him out. Get mad at that sickness. Get angry with poverty and start giving.
Rise up and receive the deliverance of the Lord!

Bill Winston: pastor and aviator

Following in the flight path of the Tuskegee airmen

Rev. Bill Winston is known in parts of this country, and even in other parts of the world, for being the pastor of a 20,000-member congregation in Forest Park named Living Word Christian Center, but not many know that he flew 250 missions in an F4 Phantom jet during the Vietnam War.
His Distinguished Flying Cross Medal hangs in a frame on the wall of his office at Living Word. According to the Office of the Secretary of the Army, the medal is awarded "to any person … who has distinguished himself or herself by heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight."
Winston is proud of that recognition of the service he gave his country. But equally important, he is proud to be connected to a storied group called the Tuskegee Airmen, a group for which he delivered the invocation at their 75th anniversary gathering at the Bessie Coleman Aviation Facility in Gary, Indiana on Aug. 27 (and the 40th anniversary celebration of the Chicago "DODO" Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen Inc.).
The Tuskegee Airmen began as an experiment in 1941, during World War II. Jim Crow Laws were still in effect in many states and the U.S. Armed Forces were still segregated. Black men had been excluded from flying aircraft in what was then the Army Air Corps, but the War Dept. needed pilots.
The Tuskegee Airmen were an experiment to see if "negroes" were mentally fit to fly airplanes. The group of African Americans who assembled at Moton Field in the city of Tuskegee, Alabama not only proved themselves capable but served with distinction in World War II. The last flyer in that group recently died in his 90s.
Winston was a boy growing up in Tuskegee at that time and attended the Tuskegee University lab school, called the Chambliss Children's House, with many of the children of the African American men in training. His father was a medical technologist at the large Veterans Hospital in town. He remembers his dad taking him out to Moton Field on the weekends to watch the pilots training to fly. Chappie James, who eventually became the first black four-star general, was part of that pioneering group, and his daughter Denise was a classmate of Winston in the second grade.
It was only natural, therefore, for Winston to follow in the footsteps of these role models. He joined the ROTC program as a student at Tuskegee University and flew jet fighter-bombers for the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
"That experience," said Living Word's pastor, "set the course for the rest of my life. It's through the discipline, the excellence and the proficiency required to be a pilot that I went on to win sales awards at IBM and then to be pastor of Living Word. In ministry, all of what I learned in the Air Force gets applied because you have to plan your mission and set goals in ministry as well as in the military.
Teamwork, he said, was one of the most important lessons he learned as a pilot. The two-man crew in the F4 requires teamwork in itself, but Winston listed all the people he depended on to successfully complete his missions: people to take care of his helmet and flight gear, share intelligence with him before the flight, take care of the airplane, make repairs if something malfunctioned, download the onboard cameras, and debrief him.
He bombed targets such as bridges and roads in an attempt to prevent the North Vietnamese from getting troops and supplies into the South. Sometimes he would fly support for B52 bombers, but his favorite missions were when he was called to aid servicemen who were caught in 'situations.'
"We would fly missions," he recalled, "where we would have to liberate our guys by keeping the bad guys away until the 'Jolly Greens' would come in and pick them up."
Now Winston is the pastor of a megachurch, but in his flying days he was not close to God. He said that as a child he had gone to church but later got away from it. Like a lot of people in the military he referred to God as the man upstairs but didn't have the kind of relationship that he developed following a profound religious experience while working in sales with IBM years later.
What lessons could society learn from what he experienced in the military?
"What we have today is a blaming society," he replied. "When I came out of the military, I was disciplined, and I see people now who look like me, but they don't seem to value what they have. In the Air Force, I put my life on the line and saw how a person could get shot down.
"Today it's almost like people have removed God from the picture. They say they make their own decisions and make their own standards and it's led to anarchy. It's caused a lot by the breakdown of the family. There's not this discipline that comes from the home, and you have kids raising kids — especially in the black community."
What he preaches at Living Word and what has attracted a large following of people is an emphasis on fundamentals: committed marriages, stressing morality and discipline in the home, going to church every Sunday, and replacing a feeling of entitlement with a sense that "I am responsible for my own life."
"Everybody has potential," Winston said, "and the way potential is manifested is through work and through faith. We have to realize that wherever we are now, there's more that's in us. We have to keep going. I want encourage people not to stop where they are now."
